Nari Hira Owner of Stardust is ahead of the famous Lady at Boribundar was proved beyond doubt in a glittering ceremony of Stardust Awards held last Sunday (20 th Feb 2005) in Mumbai. An event where THREE generations of the Film Industry came together on one platform to celebrate a common cause – Celebrating New Talent.
In a changed format the programme highlights included a lot more than just the handing over of awards. There were a series of specially devised song and dance performances by Kareena Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Aftab Shivdasani, Zayed Khan & Ritesh Deshmukh . However the high point of the evening was a specially choreographed musical tribute to “BLACK.”
Rahul Khanna and Malaika Arora hosted the show with lavish sets coupled with lasers, and special effects to create a breathtaking visual impact.
The event guest profile included the film industry's topmost personalities like Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan , Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan , Anil Kapoor, Diya Mirza, Jaya Prada, Sanjay Khan, Feroze Khan , Hema Malini, Isha Deol , Vivek Oberoi, Preity Zinta , Aftab Shivdasani, Isha Koppikar, Rekha, Jackie Shroff, Ramesh Sippy , Rajeev Rai, Prem Chopra, Suresh Oberoi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali , Mahima Chowdhary, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley, Dino Morea, Priti Jhanigiani , Aarti Chabria , Gayatri Joshi, Adnan Sami, Ashutosh Govarikar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mukesh Bhatt, Sunil Darshan, Poonam Dhillon , Arjun Rampal, Bappi lahiri, Alka Yagnik, Smita Thackrey, among many others.
The recipients of the Stardust Awards were pleasantly surprised for the titles and the way they were presented like “ Role Model “ award was given to Vinod Khanna while both his star sons (Akshay and Rahul) were with him. The “Pride of the Industry” award went to the trendsetter Rajesh Khanna , perhaps the most popular and pampered star in the history of Indian cinema – incidentally he was on the first cover of Stardust 33 years ago, he was presented the award by the first editor Ms Shobha Rajadhyaksha (Now Shobha De ).
The Stardust Awards are for those who have begun their journeys into showbiz are young, hot and they're the superstars of tomorrow . For those who have just wowed the industry and the audience with their spectacular histrionics. For those who are here to stay in the business for a long, long time.
